ADDITION OF EXECUTIVE COACHING: We are excited to share that Harmony is now offering executive coaching in addition to therapy. She is currently receiving her Certified Executive Coaching education with Royal Roads University. Sessions include 50-Minute MACRO sessions for deep-dives and 25-Minute MICRO sessions to solve a problem lickety-split.

CHANGE TO 50-MINUTE SESSION LENGTH: Hour-long therapy and coaching sessions are now booked as 50-Minute sessions but fear not. When time allows, Harmony will be generous with her time as usual and sessions will be a full-hour. Please block an hour of your time for sessions to allow for breathing room when possible.

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

We all have goals we want to reach, challenges we’re striving to overcome and times when we feel stuck. Partnering with a coach can change your life, setting you on a path to greater personal and professional fulfillment.

Coaching is focused on the future and improving performance. It is non-directive and client-driven. Coaching supports personal and professional growth through emphasis on action, accountability and follow-through. It assumes individuals can generate their own solutions within a discovery based framework. It holds the client capable of setting and reaching their own objectives. If a client is experiencing difficulty with daily functioning or past-trauma that is impeding the coaching work, a client may be referred to clinical counselling/therapy.

Where coaching is focused on the future, clinical counselling and therapy is focused on the past and supporting clients to repair and find peace through improving coping in the present moment. It may be more directive than coaching due to support for trauma.

Counselling can be more directive than coaching to support a trauma-informed treatment. However, it is still client-driven and can also focus on goals and the future.

Clinical counselling helps people improve their mental, emotional and physical health while encouraging positive relationships with self, others, and the larger community. It is focused on exploring the origin of symptoms, addressing challenges with daily functioning, and healing & repairing the past. This can include resolving traumatic memories and states of being affecting one's mental health which can in-turn affect one's wellbeing overall.

My unique approach to therapy & coaching is built upon an understanding of how your experiences have impacted your nervous system. I work with the cause of psychological injury, not just the symptoms. My work is informed by research in neuroscience, the benefits of nature, art, and mind-body therapies. Our work together may include a focus on your strengths, immersion in nature, art as therapy, visualization, sensory awareness, and self-regulation practices. Go slow, you’ll get there faster.

This is the art and science of therapy.
